Introduce yourself, choose one of the roles mentioned above, and discuss the following topic with your group mates. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion. Topic: RELIGIONS AND THEIR INFLUENCE ON HUMANITY
Some people think that we do not really need religions since they are responsible for spreading ignorance and superstitious beliefs, and for murdering millions in the name of God. Others claim that there is no morality without the religion and besides, many people feel lost and scared in such a big world. Which view do you agree with? Stage 2 Each student should write one paragraph (Each paragraph must have minimum fifteen (15) and maximum twenty (20) sentences) about the topic. The paragraph must be written with student’s own words. If the student uses the text from internet, he/she has to indicate the source. After that, each student has to write at least two comments on the contribution of other group member. The comments must be significant for the construction of the collaborative work, should indicate the mistakes and aspect to improve. On the other hand, the comments have to contribute to the discussion. Stage 3 Each student has to accomplish the selected role and make at least 3 interventions in the forum. The “compiler” has to consolidate the contributions of all the participants, including the comments and observations, in one single document. Only the contributions of the students who participated in the discussion can be included in final document.

RELIGIONS AND THEIR INFLUENCE ON HUMANITY Religion, has always played an important role in the life of the human being, is present when making decisions and we could even say that moderates their behavior when interacting with society. The birth of religion began in ancient times and has been present throughout the existence of man, since the fact of believing in some god or divinity makes the man feel part of a group that shares his beliefs and customs. Man has created his gods according to his needs, that is to say to be able to give explanation to phenomena that happened around him. Over time, more and more religions were created, each with different norms and forms of worship, or created to complacency, because the rules they had were created by their leader as they pleased. Religion in politics. Perhaps we might think that religion and politics have nothing to do with each other. Unfortunately these go hand in hand and this has been this way since ancient times. Most of the decisions that governments have made have been influenced by religion and even had much to do with warfare. One thing we must keep in mind is that while the church had sufficient influence over the government in any way the conditions were better than for it, since the church was the only one that was enriched. So it is that: What was the point of the church intervening? This happens all over the world. Every government has a religious influence that perhaps no longer exerts as much power as before in its decisions but continues to influence its behavior. Religions mark patterns of behavior that are supposed to govern our lives as loving, not committing adultery or fornication, forgiving, etc. Of course there will be those who say that religion if it helps us at least to live together in a healthy way within society. But then not all human beings have a common sense that makes us know that it is good and that it is bad and how we should act. Another thing we should perhaps take into consideration are the divisions that sometimes create religion among people, since it is assumed that the church should unify and not separate people. In conclusion Religion if it is something that makes us more kind or makes us have a godly fear since they teach us that there is a being that sees us and asks us to act well, but also I know that human beings could act well and without necessarily being Religious, something that I could say is that I see it bad that the church or any religion gets involved in politics.
UNIVERSIDAD NACIONAL ABIERTA Y A DISTANCIA INGLES IV 4 And as for the past that has the human being with religion, I have no doubt that the need to believe in something, beyond us is something inherent in the human being.
MÓNICA BONILLA RELIGIONS AND THEIR INFLUENCE ON HUMANITY I think that religions are very important to the world, but every person has the right to have his own opinions and beliefs, this is a free world and we are all free to have the religion with which we feel comfortable. Religion has always provoked discussions between people and over the years opinions about religion have increased. Religious culture depends on the country which people belong, as well as the beliefs of our ancestors, who have made us believe that we belong to a culture without our own decision. Throughout history, different religions, gods and beliefs have emerged, and these religions have created behaviors in humans and in many occasions have defined us. But is religion what guides the actions of people? Or a religion can make some people better than others? In my opinion every person decided who wants to be and how we act, and no matter what religion we belong, Each person has the possibility to choose what is better for each one. From another point of view, religion carries other things like values and forms part of the social system and there are global religions such as Catholicism. That, for me is one of the most popular religions around the World and is the each one how has more seniority in our country.
BETTY LUCIA LEVIN RELIGIONS AND THEIR INFLUENCE ON REALITY Religion is an original and specific human fact with its own identity and attested by its antiquity, related to human life by constant and innumerable research on the subject. Philosophy, it is the clarification of the human being and its context one in the sense of the other, intertwined with each other, as two own events. Religion, inherent to the human being because of its identity and autonomy from the work of the human being and this, cannot be reduced or relegated to another area of cultural expression. For this reason, it is mentioned that religion is philosophical and normative thinking as it tries to clarify its authenticity. In this sense, it can be said that religion has its own origin and identity and has special characteristics such as human happening, as a way of life and as exclusive existence of the human being. Religion is, then, the multidifferentiated historical fact of religious and diverse experiences that cannot be reduced to one or reconstructed mentally as an artificial experience. It is the reality that is revealed as such and concrete historical fact of different realities and human communities in their diversity and cultural, social and racial breadth. Religious groups affect the human being as it is an appendix to it and has traditions that accumulate lived experiences of ancestors of diverse human communities and their social, cultural and ethnic, subjective and objective structure of reality and context. Religion lives in the thought of the human being and in his spirituality. However, this
UNIVERSIDAD NACIONAL ABIERTA Y A DISTANCIA INGLES IV 7 cannot exceed human intelligence and should always put logic and reason before any situation or action. In this sense, the individual is solely responsible for religion because it links it to human history and according to this criterion, the individual can verify when immersed in an authentic fact or religious attitude and when faced with pseudo-religious forms or falsehoods that deteriorate Its true essence, facts and deeds. For this reason, it puts the human being to discern when a human phenomenon is authentic and true to a purely unfavorable and problematic action. RAFAEL ARMANDO MONTAÑO RELIGIONS AND THEIR INFLUENCE ON REALITY The religion over time has played a fundamental role in the cultural and social development of men, has been and will be a necessity linked to the human being,
UNIVERSIDAD NACIONAL ABIERTA Y A DISTANCIA INGLES IV 8 religion has become the medium where man meets the many existential questions That are presented to him in the course of his life, concepts such as the origin of all that we know, the uncertainty that is death and that will happen when no longer exists on the earthly plane, the pain, the sacrifice, the sin, and the good and the evil, has allowed the different religions of the world to provide man with ways to satisfy these questions; Religion has allowed and allows to guide civilizations under norms and precepts conceived within religions, the spirituality of religion guides the way to travel for man on earth, hoping to continue in another dimension, however the immense amount Of religions in the world and their different visions have allowed man in the name of that religion to perform acts nothing kind and spiritual, exterminating thousands of human beings defending their creeds, as in the case of holy war, crusades and Many more that have been given through the ages. For me, religion must be carried in our interior being this way of life that benefits my individuality, my family and the society where I am.
MARIA ISABELLA GUALTEROS RELIGIONS AND THEIR INFLUENCE ON REALITY Religion has always played an important role in the life of the human being. It is present when making decisions and also influences behavior by interacting with society in a
UNIVERSIDAD NACIONAL ABIERTA Y A DISTANCIA INGLES IV 9 moderate way; It is clear that it has been something transcendental, because we must not leave aside the importance that acquires in the formation of each person. It is presented as a link between the divine and the earthly, it is a means by which faith is practiced that professes and allows personal and integral growth, leading the individual to a full, straight and happy life. Well it is true that the different decisions that each human being takes are thanks to the basis of the knowledge that it possesses in union with the beliefs. It shapes every human being in values and beliefs, and thanks to this has developed his notions of spirituality, this in conjunction with a moral basis that provides each religion as a means of support. As a basic concept is a reality that cannot be denied, as it is enough to see through history how religious ideology has been a determining factor in the construction of the largest cities. Thousands of years ago the conception that was managed to have a clear idea of what the ancient cultures had to do was based on the mystical religious beliefs that were used. As the years advanced, religion was taking on a greater role in terms of politics and power. Religion responds to questions of origin and destiny, allows us to have a perspective of a future for the good of each one, allows us to propose an ideal of life for the future and that represents a growth in each moment to seek fullness. As this world advances more in terms of technological innovations and political narrowing of ties between countries and cultures, Religion will also resurface so that in the not too distant future both forces can coexist without the domination of one over the other being necessary.
COMMENTS ON THE CONTRIBUTION Comment by Betty Lucia Levin about the contribution of Jorge Ivan Hernandez. With regard to your contribution I wish to state the following: The idiosyncrasy in our country together with the styles of aging play a very important role in the construction of the human being; Therefore, reading his contribution reminds
UNIVERSIDAD NACIONAL ABIERTA Y A DISTANCIA INGLES IV 11 me when our mothers and grandmothers mentioned the fear of God ... that which surpasses any act of indecency of the human being is to attack against God or that supreme force. However, it also points out the individual's need to believe in something, otherwise the world would be chaos. It is important to note that despite changes in context, the individual's axiological behaviors are pertinent in order to place barriers in his behavior. Thank you for your vision on the subject and above all, for sharing with the group. It is true to a large extent his approach however differs from his position when mentioning that religion is inherent to the human being. Faced with this construct, I must mention that religion was designed by the state in order to put on the waist all those antisocial or misguided behaviors of the individual before society who in their judgment established good and bad, right and wrong, Everything from the bases and needs of the social and cultural context. Comment by Betty Lucia Levin about the contribution of Mónica Bonilla. Thank you for your comment. In this respect and in a very respectful way I comment the following: Religion, does not make us better human beings ... it is the parenting style and home values that account for our future behavior. Their opinion regarding the subject is very sparse and predictable. Subjectivity in his words leaves me an indescribable nuisance. I would have liked to know in depth his opinion from his personal position the concept and of course, to investigate beyond what was proposed. Comment by Jorge Ivan Hernandez about the contribution of Betty Lucia Levin. Religion as you expresses it I agree that it is a way of life and part of the existence of the human being, experiences are part of the philosophies of the human being and each individual is who immerses in their own beliefs whatever their religion. Religion has its own identity as a way of life and existence of the human being and its Spirituality, but it does not exceed human intelligence which puts logic and reason before any situation. Excellent companion contribution Comment by Jorge Ivan Hernandez about the contribution of Rafael Montaño. Religion over time has been the medium where man tries to answer the numerous existential questions that come to him in the course of his life. Concepts as the origin of everything we know, I think you focused on the transcendent part of what surrounds us and how religion is for you, which must be carried within us, being this a way of life that benefits my individuality , My family and the society in which you are.

Comment by Rafael Armando Montaño about the contribution of Jorge Ivan Hernandez. Companion Jorge, very good your contribution, I agree when you raise the relationship religion and politics, two states that have been related in the development of human societies. In the same way when you say that religion is created by the needs of man. Comment by Rafael Armando Montaño about the contribution of Mónica Bonilla. Partner Monica, regarding your contribution, I find it interesting when you think that human action is independent of the religion that is practiced, however there are many religious that use religion as a means of human subjugation. Comment by Rafael Armando Montaño about the contribution of Betty Lucia Levin. Partner Betty, interesting your contribution when you manifest the religion as part of the development of societies and their cultures through the times. Religion has been culturally a figure of human norms and behaviors that are followed by its practitioners, nevertheless the great amount of religions has allowed that the religion is culturally factor of human domination. Comment by Mónica Bonilla Solano about the contribution of Betty Lucia Levin. Hello partner Betty, I think your contribution is very interesting, and I agree that religion is something that every person should choose and that all human beings have the right to belong to the religion that we like the most and with which we Feel comfortable. Comment by Mónica Bonilla Solano about the contribution of Jorge Ivan Hernandez. Hello Partner Jorge, Thank you for your contribution and I believe that your contribution covers all areas of life in which religion interacts and that relates to all aspects throughout our lives, it is also true that religion is also Linked to the culture to which each person belongs. Comment by Mónica Bonilla Solano about the contribution of Maria Isabela Gualteros. Hello Partner Maria, in my opinion your contribution is very good, and I think that the religion to which each person belongs also participates in their behavior in society, hence it is very important that each of the people of society take the Decision of which religion to belong and likewise beliefs and cultures affect in this decision.
UNIVERSIDAD NACIONAL ABIERTA Y A DISTANCIA INGLES IV 13 Comment by Maria Isabella Gualteros about the contribution of Jorge Ivan Hernandez. Good night companion Jorge. The presentation of the subject is very well argued and complete, present interesting and key concepts about the history of religion and its precept in humanity, its influence on politics, the result of warlike conflicts, in the end a whole discussion that results Important to understand and take into account, therefore, as you indicate the belief in your higher self or does not teach us to act correctly, everything depends on our perception of things. Very good argument in general. Comment by Maria Isabella Gualteros about the contribution of Monica Bonilla. Good evening, Monica. Your precept on the subject of religion and its influence on humanity is very interesting, I agree with you as to the decision of each person to choose the deity that best suits your way of seeing life and very true also highlight That our ancestors make us believe and even impose a culture to which we do not belong or simply do not choose, just for the simple fact of following a traditional thread. Values are also a very important part of our lives and it is something that religion, in spite of its negative questions, takes as its starting point, something that we should follow, whether we belong to it or not. Comment by Maria Isabella Gualteros about the contribution of Betty Lucia Levin. Good night, mate Betty. Your opinion on the main topic is quite interesting. The wording is excellent and features key concepts to better understand the incidence of religion over the years, cultural expression, philosophy in thought and how well indicate the reality of its historical fact in the various social and racial communities, as well As the affectation that it can generate, whether in thought or spirituality, all this is finally part of the essence that each being wants to acquire and put into practice. Very well for the companion analysis.
