MASTERING
Dornier Do-17 P The proposed Dornier Do-17 P model is designed as a classic paper kit and is relatively easy to be build. Despite its relative simplicity, a special attention and precision in the assembly procedure is required for achieving excellent results. Study carefully the illustrative drawings, cutouts and present instruction before starting the work on the model. Try to imagine the separate assembly phases and the purpose of each detail.
Do not be in a hurry with gluing - carefully check and shape the details until obtain the exact and correct fit. Before starting the work get hold of the necessary tools: scissors, sharp modeling knife, blunt knife for scoring the fold lines, prickle, ruler, nippers
After the acquaintance with the model, you may start the assemblage. Follow the sequence given in the instruction. Cut the necessary details shortly before using them in order to avoid possible mistakes. Score all fold lines before cutting the details. The places of scoring are marked with small thin lines on the continuation of fold lines outside the parts.
You can find detailed description of the model’s building sequence in the assembly instruction supplied with this kit
If you are happy enough with your finished model, why don’t you take few pictures of it and share them with ModelArt? You can contact us on the following email address:

1/32 Scale Dornier Do-17 P ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTION The proposed Ju-Do-17 P model is comparatively complicated and with high level of similarity to the prototype. Thus, a special attention and precision in the assembly procedure is required. Study carefully the illustrative drawings, cutouts and present instruction before starting the work on the model. Try to imagine the separate assembly phases and the purpose of each detail. The scissors markings show where to make cuts on some details. Do not be in a hurry with gluing - carefully check and shape the details until obtain the exact and correct fit. Before starting the work get hold of the necessary tools: scissors, sharp modeling knife, blunt knife for scoring the fold lines, prickle, ruler, nippers and grinding paper. Additional materials necessary for the assemblage are: 3 sheets of cardboard with thickness approximately 0.5 mm, a piece of wire with diameter 0.5 - 0.8 mm or pins, transparent foil for the canopy. Supply with proper glue. BISON Clear Adhesive, UHU or similar are recommended as the most appropriate ones. Waterbased glue is not recommended. The model can be built in two variants – with detailed interior and transparent canopy or with paper canopy. You must choose the variant before starting the work on the model. The details that are needed for paper nontransparent canopy are marked with italic style numbers. Preparation for assembling includes gluing the pages that contain the formers and strengthening elements on 0.5 mm cardboard. Start with the nose section. Carefully form parts 1 and 1d as it is shown on view A of the instruction. Add to the obtained fuselage segment the formers 1b, 1c, 1g and 1h. Then carefully shape part 2, and don’t forget to cut marked with a scissor symbol lines that as you’ll convince yourself later are vital for obtaining correct shape and precise joint with the canopy. Now you can focus your attention to the interior. Assembly and glue on their places the pilots and gunner’s seats, controls and instrument boxes as it is shown on view E and complete the nose section. Assembly all reinforcing elements of the central fuselage section, wings and tail. Then switch again to the small details mode and assemble the machine guns and cockpit glassing. Glue the central section and pilots cockpit to the fuselage nose as it is shown on view K. Switch back to macro
details mode, but with the same accuracy assembly the tail sections of fuselage, wings and the joynt cowlings between them. Finish view M execution with gluing the tail. Prepare the engines gondolas /view N/ and again switch to precise parts mode. Assembly the undercarriage. Note that two main wheels construction is equal and is not mirror symmetrical. After gluing the disks 56 – 56f to each other leave some time for drying the glue and then form the shape of the wheel tires by using sandpaper and then paint them in black, In a same way make the tail wheel 67. One of the most pleasant works on the model is assembling the engines, as it is shown on view P. Just follow the part numbering sequence in the instruction. When the engines are ready assembly their cowlings. Glue the parts 76b and 77b inside on the rear side of cowlings 76 and 77 to achieve correct positioning of the engines P inside them. Form carefully and glue the cowlings front sections 78 – 85. Then assembly the propellers. They must be capable to rotate free in their bearings 92, 93. When the preparation of all these subassemblies is over, glue the engine gondolas, undercarriage and propellers to the model. Finish the model, placing the rear gunner glassing, Pitot tube and antennas. Now your model is ready. You can switch to enjoy mode.
