Flexible
Blank sheet of paper Essbase can be designed and tailored for any business, any industry, any application The only requirement is that you need to perform analysis and reporting across dimensions of data
Flexible-Custom Dimensions Dimensions are defined by the customer How should Time Periods look? When does the Fiscal Year begin How should the Product dimension look? What slices of data do we need to view?
Flexible–Custom Calcs & Business Rules Aggregations Allocations Scenario planning Automated business logic Driver based logic 350 functions Single point of maintenance Financial intelligence Understands expense reporting for variances Time intelligence YTD Aggregation over time (headcount)
How Much Detail? Virtually no limit to the level of detail with Aggregate Storage Option (ASO) Essbase Databases Also called Enterprise Analytics in some places New method for storing/calculating databases New storage kernel built to handle ASO databases Calculates 10-100x faster Stores up to 252 dimension combinations Which means … Lots of dimensions, lots of members
ASO Databases ASO addresses the following types of databases: Read-only “Rack and stack” Large dimensions Detailed databases are possible Customer analysis—data is analyzed from any dimension and there are potentially millions of customers Procurement analysis—many products are tracked across many vendors Logistics analysis—near real-time updates of product shipments Market Basket analysis—products purchased along with other products
