State-of-the-art technology Advanced materials (25% by weight):
New flight controls architecture: Dual Hydraulic / Electric (2H/2E) - lighter, smaller 5000psi hydraulic system - DMC1, reliability, redundancy benefits
- weight benefits - in selected airframe areas - fewer inspections
Cockpit: - family cockpit, CCQ / MFF2 - meaningful innovations - more interactive Variable Frequency electrical power generation: - step change in reliability - lighter, simpler, DMC1 benefits
Modular avionics: - DMC1 benefits - easy upgrades
Onboard Information System (OIS / NSS): - less paper cockpit - improved connectivity, lower DMC1
Engines: - new generation design - high by pass ratio - low noise and emissions
State-of-the-art aerodynamics: - lower fuel burn - lower noise - superior field and climb performance
Higher reliability, lower maintenance costs 1 – Direct Maintenance Costs 2 – Cross Crew Qualification / Mixed Fleet Flying
The A380’s introduction on a wide variety of routes is creating thousands of extra seats for airline customers while saving millions of dollars annually in operating costs. With this new-generation aircraft, operators are able to increase capacity by around 20 percent at no overall extra cost during a week’s schedule, or maintain the same capacity but flying it at 15 to 20 percent lower cost per trip and per seat.

Reducing CO2 emissions... a lot
The A380 burns 17% less fuel per seat than the 747-400. And 17% less fuel equals 17% less CO2 emissions, making the A380 the most environmentally friendly aircraft.
More passengers, half the noise
Higher capacity to relieve congestion
The A380 makes a better use of the most valuable and highly scarce asset at major airports, take off and landing slots, and is the key to help accommodating traffic growth without continuously increasing the number of frequencies.

A380 - New generation New experience Greener, cleaner, quieter, smarter: the A380 is a game-changer in terms of aircraft performance, cost efficiency and respect for the environment. A380 operators can fly 525 passengers 8 500nm - 15 700km in unprecedented comfort. Meeting the most demanding noise and emissions regulations, compatible with existing airport infrastructures and with the lowest fuel consumption per seat in the large aircraft class, the A380 defines new economic and environmental standards. The operators say it: the A380 delivers on all its commitments. And since the entry into service in October 2007, the A380 has proved to be a remarkable passenger magnet, boosting traffic. This is the A380 effect which airlines talk about: higher cabin load factors and higher profits. From the new icon in aviation. Outstanding Entry Into Service
