Training Notes: •
CABIN ALTITUDE WARNING exercise is seat specific.
•
Its “throttle hold” and not “thrust hold” ( FCTM )
•
In the previous fleet there was a requirement to call out “30 speed resting Climb Nav Blue one FD two…..” as part of instrument cross check This is NOT required in the current fleet, as Boeing procedures are designed differently and hence PFD and ND needs to be checked as described in SOP
•
For All NPAs as part of the procedure FAF altitude shall be set (even though the system capability may exist ) this is for standardization purpose so that irrespective of the type of guidance selected ( IAN , VNAV , V/S) the procedure ensures FAF alt is always set.
•
Similarly on VNAV approaches: Approaching FAF speed intervention shall be used to open the speed window. This again standardizes that; the speed window on MCP shall be open on final approach.

CAT II APPROACH PREPARATION In addition to the normal approach preparation Start APU. The Commander should include the following for CAT II operations:
1. Ai rc raf t: Review Auto flight limitations DDL / MEL / Technical log Aircraft STS review QRH required equipment list 2. Ai rport : Check that the airport is in the list of approved CAT II airports Verify LVO in force Verify status of airfield facilities: ILS, Approach lights Verify RVR reported is adequate for the approach Verify braking action if reported is not poor. 3. Weather: Verify reported winds are within limits Verify no wind shear reported 4. Crew: Verify crew qualifications. Set seat position for correct eye level reference. Review PF / PM responsibilities and additional callouts. Set DH or RA if available in FMC. Review Runway turn-offs and expected taxi route Review additional ATC calls
FLIGHT CREW TRAINING PROGRAM
AUTOL AND CAT II CA LL OUTS The Radio Altimeter (RA) shall be used for all call-outs, when conducting approaches in Low Visibility. The following call-outs are required in addition to standard call- outs CONDITION
CALLOUTS (PM)
RESPONSE (PF)
500ft AAL
LAND 2 / LAND 3 / NO AUTOLAND
CHECK / GO AROUND
50ft RA

If no ‘FLARE’, carry out a go-around.
30ft RA
RETARD / NO RETARD
If no ‘RETARD’, move thrust levers to idle.
At Touchdown

RNP APCH CREW BRIEFING TOOL In addition to the normal descent and arrival briefing, the PF/PM should complete the following RNP APCH operations checklist review. Please note that RNP APCH operation is variously referred to in Jeppesen charts as: • RNAV (GNSS) Approach, • GPS Approach, • RNAV (RNP) Approach • RNAV Approach Note 1: All the above terms are collectively known as RNP APCH in ICAO terminology. Note 2: SilkAir is not authorized to conduct RNP AR (Authorization Required). Note 3: SilkAir is approved to conduct RNP APCH with APV BaroVNAV down to LNAV / VNAV minima.
