Power supply
1.5.1. Type of power supply For 50 kW X-ray generator a three-phase system is needed. The three-phase system must be balanced, i.e. the external conductor voltages against earth must be about equal, see sketch. For reasons of operational safety and compliance with international rules, operation on three-phase mains that are floating or unbalanced to earth (e.g. with one phase earthed instead of the neutral point) is impermissible unless adequate adaptation measures have been taken! Check that the sequence of phases is correct corresponding to the designations L1, L2, L3. L1 3 phase WYE

1.5.2. Calculating the mains resistances If possible, the sum of R1 , R2 and R3 should be smaller than the RXG required. With higher internal mains resistances the generator output is reduced respectively. Note that the cross section of lead 25mm2.

Site planning
5.1.
Planning data
INTRODUCTION AND TECHNICAL DATA
The preliminary planning work is restricted to the selection of the suitable room. The outfit of the room has to be equipped with the conduits and pipes required and, in cases where the loading capacity of the bearing area plus weight of patient insufficient, the floor preparation for the table. Where DIN specification are not applicable the minimum wall clearances should be determined in compliance with the national regulations concerned.
5.2.
Determining the site of installation
The choice of the suitable room should be based on the layout plan. For detailed information see Z--3.1, Z--3.2, Z--4.1, Z--4.2
5.3.
Floor fixing
The table is fixed by means of 4 bolts and the column rails are fixed by means of 4 + 2 bolts (ext. rail left or right pos.) also. Use e.g. Liebig safety dowels S12 on compound plaster floor concrete class Bn 150 or Upat--PSZ anchor dowels type B or S12 on compound plaster floor concrete class Bn 250 or other national requirements. The mounting points on mounting surface have to be suitable for tensile strength of F ³ 2500N each. In case of ”computer floors” (stilted floors) an appropriate understructure or staybolts have to be used. For detailed information see Z--5
5.4.
Loading capacity of floor
Surface load table and column = 750kg plus 135kg weight of patient. Surface load X--ray generator = 250kg For detailed information see Z--5
5.5.
Height of the room
For detailed information see Z--1.1 or Z--1.2
5.6.
Electrical data
The bucky DIAGNOST TS is supplied incl. all necessary cables incl. plugs with required free length between the main components like X--ray generator and table. For detailed information see Z--6.1 and Z--7, Z--8, Z--50

INSTALLATION
Safety regulations Only technically qualified personnel who has received the appropriate instructions and training for radiography equipment in medical applications and in particular for the installation and commissioning of the bucky Diagnost TS are allowed to install, maintain and service this equipment. Therefore, instructions in this chapter are considered as a supplementary guideline for correct installation of the bucky Diagnost TS and are kept very briefly. Furthermore, all personnel involved must be instructed on safety precautions with respect to radiography and the related high voltage devices as well as to all other electrical low-voltage equipment. All relevant standards and regulations must be complied with. The local service organisation is responsible for the safety and training of personnel and prevention of material damage.

INSTALLATION
Final alignment of the column (tomo only)
S Move the column to the left end position. S Check the alignment of the rails by moving the column smoothly to the other end. The column must remain steadily upright over the whole length. If necessary, adjust the level of the front rail with spacers as described in Section “Mounting the rails”.
(6) (5)
The alignment can be done either with the spirit level or with the following method:
Final adjustment S Apply a vertical line to the wall on the right--hand side, e.g. with a colored adhesive tape, Check the vertical alignment while moving the column along the rail. If corrections should be necessary: S Add adjustment plates (0) under back (1) or front rail (2), or, for vertical correction (5), S adjust the ball bearing (3). Three different holes are available. For easy access move the column to the left or right end position. If the column is not vertical (6), the correction can be made with an eccentric ball bearing (4). (1)

For detailed information see manual installation of the OPTIMUS X-ray generator. S Check the power supply for the table on the PCB SN. Always remove cassette tray before you open the tabletop. Tilting the tabletop with inserted tray will cause damages to both table and cassette tray.

Tilting the tabletop beyond the upright position can cause damages to the cover of the table base. Figure 1 For access to the table control unit: S Remove the cassette tray from the bucky. S Move the tabletop to its maximum front position. S Loosen 2 screws at the rear (1). S Tilt the tabletop unit as shown in figure 1. S Secure the tabletop by fixing the lever (2) via the screw (3). The table power supply must be 230V, 50Hz or 60Hz. Note There is no programming for 50 or 60Hz. The table can only operate with 230V (and not with 110V).

The correction can be done on the axis in both directions. Solution 2 -- valid for table serial No. =499 Correct the tomo layer height = 0 mm via the table height SNVS7 switch = table height for the most upper table position. FAULTFINDING
Only technically qualified personnel who have received the appropriate instruction and training for radiography equipment in medical applications and for the bucky Diagnost TS in particular are allowed to install, maintain and service this equipment. It is presumed that all personnel involved with trouble shooting are familiar with fault finding and repair of standard radiography equipment. Therefore only topics related to the process controller (PLC) and tomo specific problems are treated in this chapter. Furthermore, all personnel involved must be instructed on safety precautions with respect to radiography and the related high voltage devices as well as to all other electric low voltage equipment. All relevant standards and regulations must be complied with. The local service organisation is responsible for the safety and training of personnel and prevention of material damage.

Specific instructions for fault elimination
1.4.1. EPROM replacement s Switch off PLC power supply. Protection against static electricity: an earth strap must be connected between the wrist and the base of the column before the EPROM is removed. The EPROM could otherwise be destroyed by static electricity. s Replace EPROM, pins 1 and 2 of the socket (see Figure) must be left unused. s Replace cover and switch power on.
1.4.2. Setting EPROM configuration jumper s Switch off PLC power supply. s Wait 1 minute, then remove the cover. s Set jumper J1 to ”E”. s Replace cover and switch power on. 1.4.3. Test exposure with inclined bucky tray s Place bucky tray on table--top as shown in the figure. s Adjust collimator aperture according to the figure. s Make test exposures in tomo mode and interpret the results.
