Description

THE ‘DEAD EYE’ CAMPAIGN:

Welcome to the campaign for domination of the Anomaly ‘Hadex’ system, also known as the ‘Dead Eye’. The campaign will take place over five specific phases. During each phase six total games must be played. Uneven teams will simply mean that players from one team may need to play extra games. The objective of the campaign is to capture opposing tiles to benefit your team, and to acquire Campaign Points (CP) to boost your individual force along the way. The final phase will be an epic Apocalypse battle. Each phase has several different mission options to ensure that everyone may choose the game most enjoyable, or tactically advantageous, to them personally. The missions may also be selected randomly, see below. In this campaign characters may die and the warp may interfere in strange and unexpected ways. One person may strap into the Golden Throne and ‘DM’ the entire campaign or players may take turns in the Master’s chair. It is important that all results are recorded, and most importantly that everyone has fun!

PRE-GAME: Before beginning ‘Phase 1’ both teams must participate in creating the planet map (see below). The final map should be displayed on the campaign blog and each participating player should have access to the blog. Each week players should come with army lists already built where possible, and for the ‘Phase 5’ Apocalypse game lists must be submitted in advance. No time limit has been set for each phase, but three weeks per phase should serve as a rough guideline.

Battle Missions: see book. Boarding Action (IA-9) rules: will be photo-copied / printed out. Phase 5: Apocalypse rules: see book. Regarding points – Given a large number of participants it may make sense to have a total point value per side. Each player will field a minimum of 2000 points for example and the remaining points needed to reach the team limit can be divided up depending on what players are capable of fielding or personal preference.

CREATING THE MAP: Planetary Empires tiles will be used to build the campaign map. The final map should consist of 48 tiles, 8 Power Stations, 8 Command Bastions, 8 Shield Generators, 8 Manufactorum, and 2 Hive City pieces. Once the map is completed a graphic or photo representation should be displayed on the campaign blog. A map, consisting of 12 tiles, will be created for each of the game Phases ‘1-4’ and then combined into one large map. To begin creating the map for Phase 1, the winner of a roll-off places the first tile piece, and then the opposing team does the same and the teams alternate until each team has placed a total of 6 tile pieces. Beginning with the winner of the roll-off each team alternates placing 1 Power Station, 1 Command Bastion, 1 Shield Generator, and 1 Manufactorum. Finally, beginning again with the winner of the roll-off each team alternates placing 6 flags each to claim desired tiles. Keep in mind that it’s mutually beneficial to ensure that each team has an equal number of special tiles at this point. Repeat the above process for Phases ‘2-4’ but during Phase 4, each team will additionally place 1 Hive City piece. After all four (12 tile) maps have been created they will be combined into one large map.

CAPTURING A TILE: How to capture a tile For now – see Planetary Empires page 5. Team Bonuses for capturing a tile For now – see Planetary Empires page 4.

CHARACTER CASUALTIES: For now - Copy rules from IA-9 page 137.

CAMPAIGN POINTS: Campaign points (CP), or ‘experience’, can be used to purchase bonuses and special abilities. After each Phase, players that have acquired CP may use them to boost individual units in their army by selecting from the appropriate list. Players that have acquired 1 CP may choose one of the following: • One unit may gain the Night Vision / Acute Sense USR. • One unit may gain the Fearless USR. • One unit may gain the Stubborn USR. • One living Independent Character may recover a single lost wound. • One bike or cavalry unit may gain the Skilled Rider USR. • One unit may gain the Slow and Purposeful USR. • One unit may gain the Move through Cover USR. • One Heavy Support unit may count as Scoring. Players that have acquired 2 CP may choose one of the following: • One unit may gain the Infiltrate USR. • One unit may gain the Scouts USR. • One unit may gain the Stealth USR. • One unit may gain the Counter-Attack USR. • One unit may gain the Furious Charge USR. • One unit may gain the Hit and Run USR. • One fallen Independent Character may return to duty with a single wound. • One Fast Attack unit may count as Scoring. Players that have acquired 3 CP may choose one of the following: • One Independent Character may gain the Eternal Warrior USR. • One unit may gain the Feel No Pain USR. • One unit may gain the Fleet USR. • One unit may gain the Preferred Enemy USR. • One unit may gain the Tank Hunters USR. • One unit may gain the Relentless USR. • One fallen Independent Character may return to duty with maximum wounds. • One unit may gain the Rending ability with all of their close combat attacks. Campaign Points may not be saved and therefore must be used before the beginning of the next game Phase.

WARP INTERFERENCE:

At any point, in any game, the ‘DM’ may decide that forces from the warp have intervened to assist or impede either (or both!) sides in a particular battle. The results of which may be hidden traps, environmental effects, an unaffiliated sniper, an entire force arriving on turn 3, or anything in between…

THERE IS ONLY WAR!
