Description

The BTS3900 and BTS3900A have a modular design. They have two types of basic modules: Base Band control Unit (BBU3900) and Radio Frequency Unit (RFU), which are connected through high-speed Common Public Radio Interface (CPRI) ports. The GSM Antenna and TMA Control module (GATM), an optional module tailored for need in different scenarios, is used to control the TMA and Remote Electrical Tilt (RET) antenna. BTS3900A cabinets are applied outdoors, which include the outdoor Radio Frequency Cabinet (RFC), Advanced Power Module (APM30H), Integrated Battery Backup System (IBBS200D/IBBS200T), and Transmission Cabinet (TMC11H).

FAN: the FAN unit

UPEU: Power module

converts -48 V or +24 V DC to +12 V DC The UPEU is classified into the UPEA and the UPEB. The UPEA converts -48 V DC to +12 V DC and the UPEB converts +24 V DC to +12 V DC.

The following boards and module are optional for the BBU3900: 

USCU: the Universal Satellite Card and Clock Unit

UEIU: the Universal Environment Interface Unit

It transmits monitoring signals and alarm signals from external devices to the main control board. 

UTRP: the Universal Transmission Processing Unit

Panel of the BBU3900.

RFU The RFU performs the following functions: 

Modulation and demodulation between baseband signals and RF signals

Data processing

Signal combination and division

The RFU is classified into following two types: 

Double Radio Frequency Unit (DRFU): supports a maximum of two carriers for small- or medium-capacity scenario.

GSM Radio Frequency Unit (GRFU): supports a maximum of six carriers for large-capacity system.

GATM The GATM controls the RET antenna and TMA. When the DRFU is installed in the cabinet, GATM should be configured if the RET antenna or Tower Mounted Amplifier is selected. The GRFU controls the RET antenna and TMA. It is no required to configure the GATM while configuring the GRFU.

The GATM has the following functions: 1. 2. 3. 4.

Controlling the RET antenna Supplying power to the TMA Reporting the RET control alarm signals Monitoring the current from the feeder

DCDU-01 The direction current distribution unit (DCDU-01) provides ten -48 V DC power outputs. The DCDU-01 has the following functions: 1. 2. 3.

Receiving -48 V DC input Providing ten -48 V DC outputs for other boards and modules in the cabinet Providing surge protection of 10 kA in differential mode and 15 kA in common mode, and providing dry contact for surge protection failure

FAN Unit The FAN unit, also called the fan module, is used to dissipate the heat in the cabinet. One FAN unit has four fans.

EMU Environment Monitoring Unit (EMU) is an environmental monitoring device that monitors environmental conditions of the equipment room. EMU connects to main equipment and performs monitoring functions through the alarm cables. The EMU has the following functions: 1. 2.

Providing monitoring ports. The EMU provides monitoring ports for the temperature, humidity, water, infrared, and door control sensors. Additionally, it provides monitoring ports for Boolean value, analog, and output control. Providing communication ports. The EMU provides two kinds of communication ports,RS485 and RS232, for communication with the BTS.

Power Subrack (AC/DC) The power subrack (AC/DC) receives the external 220 V AC power. In the power subrack, the PSU (AC/DC) converts the 220 V AC power into the -48 V DC power and then outputs the -48 V DC power. 1.PMU This describes the power and environment monitoring unit (PMU). The PMU manages the power supply and batteries. It also collects, processes, and reports environment variables and alarms. The PMU is the core of the power monitoring system. 2.PSU (AC/DC) The power supply unit (PSU) converts the 220 V AC into the -48 V DC that is led to the direct current distribution unit. 3.Wiring Unit of the Power Sub rack (220 V)

The wiring unit of the power sub rack in the 220 V cabinet receives the external 220 V AC power. After the PSU (AC/DC) converts the 220 V AC power to -48 V DC power, the wiring unit leads the DC power to the DCDU-01 through the power cable.

Power Subrack (DC/DC) The power subrack (DC/DC) receives the external +24 V DC power. In the power subrack, the PSU (DC/DC) converts the +24 V DC power into the -48 V DC power and then leads the -48V DC power to the DCDU-01 through the power cable from the wiring unit. 1.PSU (DC/DC) The power supply unit (PSU) converts the +24 V DC into the -48 V DC that is led into the direct current distribution unit. 2.Wiring Unit of the Power Subrack (+24 V) The wiring unit of the power subrack in the +24 V cabinet receives the external +24 V DC power. After the PSU (DC/DC) converts the +24 V DC power to -48 V DC power, the wiring unit leads the DC power to the DCDU-01 through the power cable.

TS3900 Cabinet Types The BTS3900 cabinet, an indoor macro cabinet, houses the BBU3900 and RFUs. A single BTS3900 cabinet accommodates a maximum of six RFU. The BTS3900 cabinet supports the following functions: 

Power distribution and surge protection

-48 V DC power input

+24 V DC and 220 V AC power inputs if configured with different power modules

1.BTS3900 +24 V cabinet is +24 V DC. After the PSU (DC/DC) transforms +24 V DC into -48 V DC, the DCDU01 distributes the -48 V DC power to each component in the cabinet. The BTS3900 +24 V cabinet can be installed alone or stacked with a BTS3900 -48 V cabinet. The BTS3900 +24 V cabinet contains the following components: the DRFU, BBU, DCDU-01,PSU (DC/DC), and FAN unit 2.BTS3900 -48 V cabinet is -48 V DC. The DC power is directly led into the DCDU-01 and the DCDU-01 distributes the DC power to each component in the cabinet. The BTS3900 -48 V cabinet can be installed alone or stacked on top of another BTS3900 -48 V cabinet. The BTS3900 -48 V cabinet contains the following components: the DRFU, BBU, GATM, DCDU-01, and FAN unit, among which the GATM is optional. 3.BTS3900 220 V cabinet is 220 V AC. After the PSU (AC/DC) transforms 220 V AC into -48 V DC, the DCDU01 distributes the -48 V DC power to each component in the cabinet. The BTS3900 220 V cabinet can be installed alone or stacked with a BTS3900 -48 V cabinet. The BTS3900 220 V cabinet contains the following components: the DRFU, BBU, DCDU-01,PMU, PSU (AC/DC), and FAN unit. 4.RFC

The RFC houses the RFUs and provides the functions such as power distribution and surge protection. The RFC works in direct-ventilation mode to dissipate heat, and it can be configured with a maximum of six RFUs. shows the internal structure of the RFC.

Internal structure of the RFC
