3.6 Si 巳 Si is the sixth Branch. It carries the energy of a plant preparing for its full growth. It also can mean stop—as when a person or plant reaches the state of full maturity and stops physical growth. In its Oracle Script, Si forms the image from the Yi 翼 Lunar Mansion in the southern Red Bird celestial region. Xun 巽 Wind is its associated trigram.

HEAVENLY STEMS AND EARTHLY BRANCHES—TIANGAN DIZHI
Hour: 09.00–10.59 This is the time for achievement, accomplishments and getting things done. Direction: Southeast This is both the spiritual and physical southeast direction, as well as the front-left side of a house or body. Hexagram:
Qian 乾 Strength
This hexagram has six pure unbroken Yang lines, which symbolize perfection, complete, power, circular, round, and the Heavenly Way. Body: Small intestine organ system, spleen meridian system The small intestine organ system is of the Yang Fire Element. The spleen meridian system is TaiYin, the Major Yin Damp Earth, which is of the Yin Earth Element. As we can see in nature, wetlands need a good amount of sunny days in order for things to grow in a healthy way. It is the same in the body—the Damp Earth spleen meridian system will function best if it is well supported by the Yang Fire small intestine organ system. Strong sunshine will wither plant life if there is not a reliable source of water, as good damp soil serves as a form of protection against intense heat from the sun. Dampness of the spleen meridian Yin Earth helps balance the Yang Fire of small intestine. Numerology: 2 and 7 The Yin Fire number is 2 and the Yang Fire number is 7. Both are used to support the function of the Fire Element. Alchemical Transformation: JueYin FengMu 厥陰風木 Reverse Yin Wind Wood According to Chinese cosmology, Si transforms into the JueYin, the Reverse Yin Wind Wood, which suggests a period of strong windstorms. In our bodies, this Wind Wood energy manifests in the pericardium meridian system and liver meridian system.

Quality: Cautious, intuitive, knowledgeable, attractive, conceited, insatiable, sluggish In Chinese astrology, a well-supported Si person may be cautious, intuitive, knowledgeable, and attractive, whereas an imbalanced Si person will tend more towards being conceited, insatiable, and sluggish. If Si is in the Destiny Palace, the person may be well educated and lead a life focused on scholarly pursuits. RenYuan 人元 (Hidden Stem): Bing 丙, Wu 戊, Geng 庚 Yang Fire Bing is Si’s main hidden Stem. Yang Earth Wu will gain more influence if Si is in a situation in which the Earth Element is strong. Geng Metal will exert its power if Si is surrounded by strong Metal Element energy.

HEAVENLY STEMS AND EARTHLY BRANCHES—TIANGAN DIZHI
LüLü 律呂 (Musical Pitch): ZhongLü 仲呂 The ZhongLü energy is that of Yang reaching its peak level, with Yin preparing to begin its ascent. This quality Qi resonates in the spleen meridian of the body. The vibration is similar to that of the perfect fourth of F in the modern musical system. Si Internal Alchemy Practice: In the GanZhi standing posture, face northeast and visualize red color Qi surrounding you and entering into your small intestine with each inhalation. With each exhalation, intensify your visualization: imagine your toes are grabbing the earth with more force, close your Earthly Door tighter, reach your fingertips deeper into the earth, and stretch your head taller to reach high into the heavens, all the while paying attention to your spleen meridian. Repeat for a minimum of 49 breaths.
