Ninoy ay 17 taong gulang lamang ng matanyag sa pagiging isang korespondent ng digmaan sa Korea. Naging pinakabatang nahalal na punong-bayan sa Concepcion, Tarlac. Siya rin ay naging katidong teknikal ng mga pangulong sina Ramon Magsaysay at Carlos P. Garcia. Noong panahon ng panunungkulan ni Diosdado Macapagal si Ninoy ay umanib sa Partido Liberal. Siya ang naging pangkalahatang kalihim ng partido na naging daan upang siya ay mahalal na pinakabatang senador noong 1967. Nang ideklara ang Batas Militar (Martial Law), si Ninoy ay dinakip at nakulong ng maraming taon. Siya ay nagkaroon ng sakit sa puso at pinahintulutan naman na maoperahan sa Estados Unidos. Dahil sa pagnanasang maglingkod sa bayan at sambayanang Pilipino, bumalik si Ninoy sa Pilipinas. Subalit sa kanyang pagbabalik ay hindi na niya naisakatuparan ang kanyang mga adhikain sapagkat pagtuntong pa lang niya sa paliparan ng MIA, siya ay binaril at nalugmok sa Tarmac. Ang kanyang pagkamatay noong Agosto 21, 1983 ang siyang nagmulat at gumising sa natutulog na damdamin ng taong-bayan. Nag-alsa ang milyung-milyong Pilipino at ito ay tinaguriang "People Power." ALAMAT NG ROSAS Noong araw ay may isang magandang dalagang nagngangalang “Rosa,” na balita sa kanyang angking kagandahan, kayumian, at kabaitan. Maraming nangangayupapa sa kanyang kagandahan. Ngunit ni isa sa mga ito ay hindi niya mapusuan. Dahil ang gusto ni Rosa ay ang maglingkod sa Panginoon at sa pagtulong sa mga nangangailangan ng kanyang tulong. The Cow and the Carabao By Concordia Logue, Saturnina Femen, Regina Condez, and Miriam Capili A muddy Carabao slowly made its way to a grassy field. A Cow was munching grass in a nearby meadow. “Look how dirty you are, friend Carabao,” said the Cow. “You expect me to look clean after a day’s work in the muddy fields? You should be ashamed of yourself instead, you lazy bone. While I work you do nothing but eat and sleep the whole day. Of course your body will be soiled like mine”. You ought to be thankful for being useful in the field,” the cow said, “You will live much longer than me”. “What do you mean by that?” asked the Carabao. “Our master wants you to live as long as possible,” explained the cow. “You are needed to plow and harrow the fields. On the other hand, I eat and rest with little or nothing to do so I grow big and fat. Our master will then sell me to the butcher to be slaughtered. All of us have our own destinies to fulfill.
