What chores did Steve do last week? Listen and match the chores to the days. There’s one chore you don’t need to use. 17

CD 1 Track 17 Woman: Hi, Steve. What chores do you do at home? Boy: Well, I always make my bed in the morning. And last Sunday it rained a lot, so on Monday I cleaned the windows. Woman: And what about the car? Did you wash it after the rain? Boy: Yes, we did. My dad and I did that on Tuesday afternoon. The car was very dirty, but it’s nice and clean now. Woman: Good! What about on Wednesday? Did you do any chores? Boy: Yes. There were lots of T-shirts and socks on the floor in my bedroom. I put them all away in the cupboard. Woman: That’s good. Boy: On Thursday I didn’t do any difficult chores. I just went shopping after school. I needed to buy some food for my pets. Woman: Did you feed them when you went home? Boy: Yes, I did. Woman: And did you help on Friday, too? Boy: Yes, I did. I helped my grandmother. We had lunch at her house, and I did the washing up. She was very happy. Woman: What did you do at the weekend? Boy: Well, on Saturday morning I took out the rubbish, and then I cycled to the park. I played football with my friends. Woman: That was a fun Saturday after a busy week! Girl: Well, I didn’t do any chores, like tidying up or sweeping. But some of the pensioners had problems reading because their eyes weren’t very good. So I helped them read books and newspapers. Man: And do you still go there today? Girl: No, I haven’t got much time now. This year I started a new project with two of my friends from school. Man: What is that? Girl: It’s called ‘Don’t throw it away! Give it away!’ We ask children bring their old toys, like dolls and games, to the library on Saturday morning. Then we take the old toys to a charity, and they give them to people who can’t buy new toys. Man: Do you collect old clothes, too? Girl: Sometimes people bring their old clothes and books, too. The charity is always happy to get them, if they are in good condition. Man: That’s a great project, Jenny. Girl: Thank you. Answers: 1 10 2 reading 3 friends 4 toys 5 old
