SECTION 1-GENERAL This manual describes the installation, usage and maintenance instructions of GNSL (M) Series Jet Mud Mixer. Relevant personnel should read this manual carefully. In the operation site, the manual is required for timely reference. To ensure safety and stable operation of equipment, No modification is allowed without the company's prior written consent. Corresponding spare parts, only the ones manufactured or recommended by GN are acceptable.

1. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS / PRECAUTIONS 1.1 User must read this manual carefully before equipment operating! 1.2 Lift equipment by specified lifting position! Ensure that the equipment installed fastening and reliable; fastening all assembly bolt group once a month. 1.3 Boot method: Close the butterfly valve between hopper and tee joint before start; open centrifugal pump; After the pump become stable, open the butterfly valve. Go to next step after confirming that no drilling mud returning phenomena. 1.4 After shutdown, clean slag discharge port of the tee joint. 1.5 Check pressure gauge regularly, check the nozzle wear and replace it timely. 1.6 If you find any mechanical or electrical defects or problems, operation is prohibited.
2. APPLICATION OF JET MUD MIXER The unit is used to make up drilling fluid, to change the density, viscosity, dehydration, acid-base property etc. It is suitable for drilling mud aggravation and preparation from 1,500 meters to 6,000 meters. When making up, put the materials of drilling fluid (such as betonies and barite powder) and corresponding chemical additives (such as polymer) into the mixing hopper and then go into the recycling tank through the jet unit. If put them into the mud tank directly, the materials of drilling fluid and chemical additives will be deposited largely or dump together and we can’t obtain diffused and well-proportioned drilling fluid. The mud mixing unit can increase the shear strength of the liquid in the tube, better improve material dispersion, and increase the liquid mixing pressure, to get the material the full cycle and mixing.
3. DESIGN FEATURES AND ADVANTAGES OF JET MUD MIXER GN Jet Mud Mixer can help the operator maximum efficiency mixing. In the rig site, require the addition of bentonite, polymers, and other powders to achieve the performance of the drilling mud generally, such as hole cleaning drilling mud viscosity, water loss control and the filter cake creation. In applications of large proportion drilling mud, the application of barite potential collision is more important. GN Jet Mixing equipment includes mechanical seal centrifugal pump, venturi tube funnel. The performance is better if used in conjunction with the shear pump. either a single skid-mounted or tank-side mounted, or even separate hopper on tank top and pump mounted on tank side in order to improve the operability of customers and improve the efficiency of mixing or make the whole system more compact.

SECTION 2-STRUCTURE AND WORKING PRINCIPLE Conventional GNSL (M) Series Mixing device is a single jet mud mixing equipment composed of a horizontal centrifugal pump (sometimes with shear pump, to improve cutting efficiency) and a three-way mixing hopper connected by manifold, valve mounted on a base. Double mixing device with 2 sets centrifugal pump and 2 sets hopper is also available according to the actual needs of users.

3. WORKING PRINCIPLE OF MIXING HOPPER Mixing hopper works by using the Venturi throry. The principle of the venturi effect is the barrier when the wind blows, the barrier on the leeward side port near the surface pressure is relatively low, resulting in adsorption and cause the air flow. Venturi principle is very simple, just to make the air from coarse to fine, in order to accelerate the gas flow rate, the gas outlet at the rear side of the venturi tube to form a "vacuum" area. When the vacuum zone close to the workpiece, there will be certain adsorption.

SECTION 3- INSTALLATION AND USE In the drilling mud system, aggravating hopper and centrifugal pump could be connected by a single base, or they can be divided mounted, and then connected each other via manifold and valve. In order to make the whole system more compact, mixing hopper and pump would be installed on the mud tank skid usually. There are two cases. 1. Hopper on tank top, pump and manifold on tank skid

Advantages and disadvantages of two kinds of installation The advantages of first kind: drilling fluid is not easy to return; The drawback of first kind: a. Overall height of the tank increases, easy to out of height limit when transported; b. the material is not easy to be carried, The workers need specialized equipment for materials transported from ground to tank top. The advantages of second kind: a. it will not add the height of the mud tank, so it could be transported in a complete unit, no need to dismount b. It is convenient for workers operation. The drawback of second kind: the drilling fluid is easy to return. Both installations have their own advantages and disadvantages. Customer can choose optimum solution as per own site status. 4. Installation If Jet Mixing device is located on a separate skid, separated from mud tank, it should be installed according to below steps. 12 / 17 www.gnsolidscontrol.com
4.1 According to the jobsite, flat the ground foundation on the end of the mud tank, the foundation should be on the same level of the mud tank foundation. 4.2 After the equipment placed, connect the pump inlet and tank by hose. 4.3 Switch on the power; observe if the pump rotation is correct in direction.

6.Use 6.1 Before use, open sand pump inlet butterfly valve Ⅰand outlet butterfly valve Ⅱ; Start the pump. After sand pump is working properly, turn on the feeding valve Ⅲ, then you can add fluid material into the hopper (bentonite, barite powder etc. ) and the corresponding chemical additives (polymer etc.), to doing mud aggravation and preparation.

Fig 7:GNSL(M) Series jet mud mixer use schematic 6.1 To prevent the sudden decrease of pressure when stop the pump, which may cause drilling mud overflow from hopper, stop feeding valve Ⅲ on the hopper before stopping the pump. 6.2 If the hopper does not work for a long time in winter, turn off the sand pump suction inlet valveⅠ, then unscrew the sand pump bottom casing and the inlet tube plugs to let go of the drilling mud to prevent cracking the pump and piping. 7. SECTION 4- EQUIPMENT STORAGE AND TRANSPORTATION If the equipment is not installed immediately after arrived to site ,it needs to be covered by tarpaulin or tarp. If it has to be storaged outdoors, it requires UV tarps to prevent the motor exposure. Note: Be sure to leave a good ventilation opening when covered. Equipment can carried by shovel. For lifting, it is only could be hoisted by lifting signs to avoid damage to the device.
SECTION 5- QUALITY GUARANTEE 1. According to this provision, GN Jet Mud Mixer device warranty period is 14 months after shipment or 12 months after installation (with restrictions whichever comes first). During warranty period, GN can be liable for the non-wearing parts or human error caused by the operation of product quality issues, meanwhile give operation, maintenance and inspection guidance, allow the use and replace authorization wearing parts within the prescribed period. Any abuse, misuse, misapplication, improper installation or lack of maintenance cases, the warranty will no longer apply. Within warranty period, if the product is found defective in materials or workmanship, the purchaser shall notice GN in written form. GN shall be responsible for products or parts replacement. For repair or replacement of defective parts beyond the cost, GN cannot make express or implied warranty. Unauthorized repair or maintenance (excludes normal replacement of wearing parts), the warranty will be invalid and does not bear all the consequences resulting there from.
2. GN guarantee does not apply to the following situations: a. Faults arising after the warranty period. b. The failure caused by chemical corrosion and friction loss. c. equipment damage caused by transport accidents. d. Non purchase directly from the GN or quality defects is found after resale of a product after purchase, within the scope of warranty. e. improper maintenance or failure caused by abuse, misuse, misapplication. f. equipment failure caused by any repair or modification without the approval 15 / 17 www.gnsolidscontrol.com
of GN, or unauthorized use spare parts without the authorization GN.
3. Above guarantees means "Jet Mud Mixer warranty." This warranty is as sole interests of the buyer, 4. GN declare that this device guarantees is only warranty for buyers, and exclude all other express warranties (whether oral, written or promise, description, or sample produced) and all implied warranties, including but not limited to, warranties of non-infringement, merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose and secured by the relevant application or business practices generated as a guarantee. 5. Purchaser undertakes to assess the quality and think GN Jet Mixing device meets the operational needs of the buyer (including processing applications). The buyer knows how to evaluate and choose the installation site and how to operation. 6. Any approval or certification purposes issured by EPA or other regulatory departments issued, GN do not guarantee 7. According to this agreement the buyer undertake risks, responsibilities, and (or) fees due to EPA or other legal compliance. 8. GN does not test the site for pre-installed, so GN does not make any guarantee for the installation of the device. When rent GN jet mud mixer, the buyer should make sure that businesses and individuals understand the contents of the guarantee and disclaimers.
