Training Curriculum for

2010 General Information Introduction: Today’s complex engine, transmission and power generation systems demand high quality interactive classroom and hands-on technical training. We provide affordable training with state-of-the-art equipment, repair procedures, and live engine, transmission and generator troubleshooting. Cummins West Training Center classes are sized and monitored to assure proper student to instructor ratio providing personalized performance based training to all students. Cummins West Training Center delivers the best training because we have the best instructors. Our instructors are highly skilled professionals, educated in training technology, engine and generator knowledge. Through a comprehensive trainer development program, our instructors are provided with a curriculum which teaches instructional concepts, benefiting adult learners with diverse learning styles. Also, Cummins West’s instructors are kept on the leading edge of changing technologies, by attending courses at Cummins Inc, Allison Transmission, and Cummins Power Generation. These classes provide the latest technical information, procedures, and techniques available. This insures each student receives up-to-date information and instruction.

Enrollment Procedures: 1. Phone Cummins West Training Center and Request Only enrollment for a particular course, or. 2. Complete the enclosed Request Only for enrollment 3. Detach and forward to Cummins West Training Center (Mail or Fax). 3. Classes are limited to 6 to 12 students, based on curriculum. 4. Work clothes and safety footwear are recommended. 5. Any questions should be directed to the Training Center at (510) 357-6101.

Payment Procedures: 1. Prepayment by check or purchase order is required with enrollment Request Only, or presented by the student prior to the start of class. VISA/MasterCard and AmEx are also accepted. 2. Prior credit approval is necessary for all company purchase orders. 3. Cancellations made less than five (5) working days prior to the class start date will be subjected to a $100.00 cancellation fee. The balance of the tuition may be applied to a future training session. 4. If a student does not attend class and fails to cancel with the Training Center, he/she will be billed for the full amount of the class. 5. Refunds will not be granted after class begins. 6. If, for any reason, the training class is canceled, students may either apply the tuition towards a future training class, or Request Only a refund.

Daily Schedule: Typical program hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with ample breaks and a one hour lunch period. Homework may be assigned each evening to help students comprehend the material covered and to increase classroom hands-on time.

Books, Tools, and Supplies: Cummins West Training Center provides the manuals and tools used while attending class. The appropriate handout literature will be given to each student and is included in the tuition cost. We recommend students wear comfortable clothing suitable for working on engines and hardware. NOTE: Shorts, sandals, and sleeveless shirts are not considered appropriate clothing.

Recognition: A Cummins, Allison, or Power Generation certificate will be awarded to each student upon successful completion of the course. In some courses students will be required to take a written test and perform hands-on tasks, and must make a passing score to receive a certificate.

Lodging: Payment for hotel accommodations is the responsibility of the student.

Warranty Qualification (2005-07 Distributor, 2005-08 North American Dealer) A course designed to familiarize the Cummins Warranty Decision Maker with an understanding of proper claim preparation, documentation, SRT, and procedures. 2. Cummins Electronic Engine Diagnostics. (2006-13Q) Covered in this course will be Basic Electricity Fundamentals and diagnostic tools, Wiring Diagram Familiarization, Electronic Troubleshooting Trees and a common sense approach to Electronic Diagnosis. The student will be required to use the INSITE Diagnostics program. Recommended Prerequisites:

3. INSITE Diagnostic Service Tool (2006-14Q) This course is designed to introduce the technician to basic computer operation and software applications related to troubleshooting and programming today' s electronically controlled engines. Technicians will learn to navigate within the Windows operating system and to run Windows based Cummins applications such as INSITE and Intercept. They will learn basic functions such as opening jobs, diagnosing engine problems, programming, and calibrating ECMs. 2 Days (Refer to schedule for cost) 4. 2010 ISX15 CM2250 (2009-37Q) This course will cover in detail the new 2010 ISX15 CM2250. Topics to be covered will be changes to the ISX15 Base Engine such as the engine gear train, the new XP High Pressure Common Rail fuel system for the ISX., Cooled exhaust Gas Recirculation, and CM2250 Control System diagnostics. Also covered will be the addition of the Selective Catalyst Reduction aftertreatment system, new for the 2010 automotive product. Mandatory Prerequisites:

7. 2010 ISX 11.9 CM2250 Engine Qualification (2010-06Q) This course will cover in detail the new ISX 11.9 Engine for 2010. Course will include tear down and reassembly of the ISX 11.9 Engine.

8. 2007 ISM/ISX Engine Qualification CM 871 & CM 876 (2006-30Q & 2006-31Q) This course is designed to familiarize the technician with the changes made Cummins ISM/ISX engine for 2007. Topics include features and design components. Also included in this course are systems troubleshooting, wiring diagram interpretation, cooled EGR, VGT, exhaust aftertreatment and practical application utilizing Insite. Written and practical application testing involved. Students need to have a basic knowledge in electronic troubleshooting as well as being familiar with the INSITE diagnostic tool. Additional Training Requirements (Mandatory Prerequisites): In addition to the classroom training, students must complete the Virtual College Library Bulletin #4091845 to be Qualified on this product. 16. ISM CM570 Familiarization and Troubleshooting (2000-54Q) This course is designed to familiarize the technician with the evolution of the ISM Engines. Base engine, as well as engine systems changes are reviewed. Unique service and troubleshooting techniques and procedures are also covered. 17. ISX/Signature CM570 Engine Qualification (2000-56Q) This course is designed to familiarize the technician with all engine systems and subsystems. Emphasis is placed on the fuel system, the electronic subsystem, dual overhead cam assembly, engine timing, front gear train, overhead adjustment, cooling and lubrication systems, and combustion air system. Fuel system troubleshooting techniques are also emphasized. Written and practical application testing involved. 19. ISC/ISL Engine Qualification (Pre 2002) (2004-07Q, 2004-08Q) A course designed to familiarize the technician with the Pre - 2002 Cummins MidRange product, the Interact System C, and L. Topics include its features and design components. Also included in this course are ISB/ISC/ISL system troubleshooting, wiring diagram interpretation, DVM usage, and practical application utilizing Insite. Written and practical application testing involved. Also we will cover modular repair to the CAPS fuel injection pump. 22. Cummins Stationary Natural Gas Engines-Cummins Carbureted Engine Qualification (2003-05) This course is designed to familiarize the technician with all engine systems and subsystems of the Cummins stationary natural gas or propane product. Emphasis is placed on the fuel system, the ignition system, engine commissioning, overhead adjustment, cooling and lubrication systems, and combustion air system. Fuel system and Ignition system troubleshooting techniques are also emphasized. 3 Days (Available by Request Only)

23. Industrial Gas CM558 AFR SLB & LE (2007-31Q) This course covers the new CM558 Industrial Gas engines. Both SLB (simple lean burn) and LE (low emissions using a catalyst) technology is covered. Emphasis is placed on natural gas as a fuel, natural gas analysis, initial engine setup and adjustments, Cummins Gas Analysis web tool, elevation & timing adjustments, exhaust 02 level adjustments, NOx level adjustments, gas pressure, fuel system plumbing and filtration, carburetor adjustment, ignition system, troubleshooting skills, service & maintenance procedures, safety procedures, service tools, exhaust aftertreatment, and information resources. 24. Industrial Tier III QSK19 MCRS (2005-02Q) This course covers the Tier III QSK19 engine used in Tier III Industrial applications and Tier II Marine applications. The QSK 19 is the Cummins 19 Litre engine with the Modular Common Rail Fuel System and the CM850 Electronic control system. Topics covered in this course will be base engine familiarization, Modular Common Rail fuel system operation and diagnostics, and CM850 control system operation and diagnostics. There will be a written and hands on testing. QSM11 and 480CE Marine Engine Qualification (2006-49Q & 2006-56Q) The Technician will receive qualification status through hands-on live engine training and written testing on the QSM11 & 480CE engines. The technician will work with INSITE, Data Link Adapters, and Electronic Control Modules. Marine application requirements, sea trial, marine specific components, maintenance, operation and installation requirements will be covered. 3. Marine QSK19 CM850 MCRS Engine Qualification (2008- 02Q) The Qualified Marine Technician will receive qualification status through hands-on live engine training and written testing. Marine application requirements, sea trial, maintenance, operation and troubleshooting techniques will be taught using a QSK19 MCRS marine engine with C Command Elite and Elite Plus controls. 4. QSD MerCruiser Diesel Engine Qualification (2007-01Q) The Qualified Marine Technician will receive qualification status through hands-on engine training and written testing on the QSD 2.0, 2.8, 4.2 Engines. Marine application requirements, sea trial, maintenance, operation and troubleshooting techniques will be taught using live engine modules and controls. Cummins Power Generation RV Generator Required Courses. (2007- 08Q & 2007-10Q) 1. CPG Gas and Diesel RV Qualification

This course covers basic generator set theory, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair. This course focuses on the Microlite gensets. This course also covers the new RV Gensets MicroQuiet, Quiet Diesel, Marquis Gold, and Marquis Platinum Gensets. This class concludes with written and practical application qualification testing. This course meets the qualification requirements for the Consumer Commercial Diesel and Gas GenSets. 2. RV Inverter/Charger (Equinox course 122)

This course is designed to introduce technicians to the Equinox inverter/charger. Technicians will learn operation, troubleshooting and repair of the Equinox inverter/charger. This course covers the many of the CORE training requirements for all Commercial GenSets Topics include generator and control familiarization, wiring diagram interpretation, basic troubleshooting and testing. In addition to the basic technical training, required safety courses are also covered such as Electrical Hazards (NFPA70E

Overview) Electrical Safety - Introduction to NFPA 70E 600 Volts or Greater Electrical Safety Introduction to NFPA 70E 600 Volts or Less - Lockout/Tagout -Contractor Safety Training and OSHA familiarization. 2. InPower ( Courses 6029 and 6058)

This course will qualify technicians on the InPower software application as it relates to troubleshooting and programming 3200 and 2100 PowerCommand Controls, and OTPC, OHPC, CHPC transfer switches. Students will learn how to navigate within the Windows-based operating system and to use Windows functions necessary to use InPower diagnostic & programming functions. 3. Automatic Transfer Switches (2000-05Q)

This course concentrates on installation, adjustment, service and troubleshooting of CPG OT III and LT III transfer switches. Through a combination of classroom instruction and practical application training experiences, technicians learn to use electrical diagrams and manuals to troubleshoot and repair CPG transfer switches. Technicians must have a thorough knowledge of AC and DC electrical theory. In addition, this class will cover modifications to the PCC 2100 control resulting from the addition of the CAN data Link to communicate on engine ECM' s. 10. Paralleling Load Transfer Equipment (2002-40Q)

This course is designed to provide the student with knowledge on how to Start-up, Maintain and Troubleshoot the Keystone based PLT series load transfer equipment. The covered switches will be the PLTS, PLTH, PLTO, PLTR and the Keystone Based PLTE. (Note that the DMC based PLTE will not be discussed). The course will consist of 2 classroom days with a PLT series switch for visual aid only. 11. PowerRent GenSets (2002-32Q)

This course is designed to enable field personnel to install, operate, maintain and repair Cummins PowerGeneration prime and standby Power Rent generator sets. The procedures to change voltage, checkout engine and fluid levels, check batteries, and inspect shutdowns and other electromechanical devices will be discussed. The distribution panel, wiring diagrams, breakers, safety, and troubleshooting considerations unique to the Power Rent package will be covered. This course will also include the paralleling of rental gensets. The paralleling connections for each genset will be considered as well as the interface connections between the two or more gensets that are connected in parallel. Additional circuit breakers necessary for paralleling configuration will be discussed. Mandatory Prerequisites: CORE Requirements 3 Days (Refer to schedule for cost)

12. DMC1 - Digital Master Controls (2000-22Q)

This course covers installation, operation and troubleshooting Digital Paralleling Systems. Topics for this course include: Fundamentals of paralleling in Isolated Bus and Infinite Bus applications. Sequence of operation in Automatic, Semi-automatic and Manual paralleling modes. Digital Master Control components, operation, adjustments and troubleshooting. Touch Screen operation of the paralleling system. Utilizing the touchscreen software program. PowerCommand Paralleling Control (3100) calibration and adjustments. Reading and interpreting Modicon ladder diagrams. Interconnection wiring harness checks and troubleshooting. Digital Paralleling System schematic interpretation. Application review before startup of a new system. This class concludes with written and practical application qualification testing. 13. Basic and Intermediate FT 10 Networks (2004-15Q and 2004-17Q)

This course is designed to qualify technicians on the PowerCommand Network hardware and software. This course includes building a network using twisted-pair media. The course will introduce the technicians to the software used in installing and maintaining networks. Participants will also learn to select and install all hardware, to develop a network which can fill the needs of the customer. This will include the use of a sample specification, drawing the installation diagram for the hardware components and completing a binding diagram. Once the participants have successfully completed all of the required exercises they will complete written and hands-on qualification assessments. 14. Advanced FT10 Network (2004-16Q)

This class will cover LonWorks communication principles, LonMaker stencil creation and use, ModLon II device configuration and use, iLon600 configuration and use, and Remote Light-Weight client use. Cummins resource file and plug-in use will also be covered. The iWatch100 product description, use, and configuration will be covered. This class will also cover the use of PowerCommand for Windows when connecting through a serial (null-modem) connection to a PowerCommand genset or transfer switch Control. This is an expanded version of the training included in the FT10 Network class. All current released device firmware, plug-ins, resource files, and stencils will be provided to participants prior to class and should be placed in the correct locations on the PC. The following is required to participate in this class; LonMaker Integration Tool version 3.13.10 and LNS version 3.08.05 installed and operating on the participants PC along with a properly functioning PCC10 PCMCIA interface. 14. OHPC and CHPC Transfer Switches (2001-29Q)

This course is designed to introduce technicians to the new Open Transition and Closed Transition PowerCommand transfer switches and the new transfer switch mechanism. The participants will learn where the transfer switch hardware is located and the function of each module in the control. The control portion of the course will be expanded from the OTPC transfer switch course. The course will include reviewing the procedures for removal, rebuilding and replacement of the OHPC/CHPC mechanism. After successfully completing the transfer switch control portion of the course, participants will continue with removing, rebuilding and replacing the OHPC/CHPC transfer switch mechanism. Once the participants have successfully completed all of the required exercises, they will participate in a written and hands-on qualification assessment. 15. MCM 3320 Controls (2005-13Q) This course covers installation, operation, and troubleshooting the MCM3320 master control. Topics for this course include power distribution buss topography, power load transfer control, load shed, and load demand configurations. This course will cover the use of the MCM3320 with Power Command Parallel systems. Also discussed will be programming and setup with the HMI211 and InPower. Mandatory Prerequisites: CORE Requirements Large commercial course or six years experience. Transfer Switch course or six years experience with transfer switches. The technician will learn the features of the PowerCommand Control 3100. Marine GenSets 1. PowerGen Marine Gas & Diesel Qualification (2007-14Q)

This course will cover the current Marine products. The materials will cover the MDK (e-QD) family of gensets, the MGK (e-QG) gasoline family, and the briefly touch on the new MDD series (replacement for the Admiral series). Basic mechanical and electronic troubleshooting and schematic reading will be emphasized, along with specific information for each family of gensets. This course will cover the RS12000 home standby system including the generator, and transfer switch. Students will learn how to install repair and maintain the system. 3. OTEC Transfer Switch Qualification 2008-14Q This course will cover description and operation of the OTEC Transfer Switch. Also covered is the operation and troubleshooting of the OTEC Control Panel. There will a hands on and written assessment at the end of the course. Prerequisites: CORE Requirements 2 Days (Refer to schedule for cost) 4. NSPS (2009-43Q) This course covers the New Source Performance Standards (NSPS) as they relate to GenSet performance and emissions. Covered in this course will be a review of Gaseous Fuel Systems including, Gaseous Fuels, Fuel System Layout, Fuel System Components, and Fuel System sizing. Also covered will be proper use of testing equipment and diagnostic procedures. Mr. Miller has been a technician, assistance maintenance manager, field service engineer, director of training and engineering, service manager, general service manager, operations manger, automotive and diesel instructor, and is currently our Director of Service Engineering and Training. Mr. Miller holds a Vocational Education Teaching Credential in Automotive/Diesel Technology.

Stu Frampton - 39 years of experience in the heavy duty engine field. Mr. Frampton has been a technician, foreman, owned his own repair business, service engineer, and is currently our Training Manager. Eric Mondale -

29 years of experience in the generator field. Mr. Mondale has been an engineering technician, service engineer, service manager, and is currently our distributor service engineer for PowerGeneration.
