What animal sign am I? Your first question when thinking about Chinese Astrology is no doubt, What sign am I? And... how does this all relate to me? Let’s begin by, showing you how Chinese Astrology relates to you personally.
Your Personal Animal Sign Start by finding your natal Animal sign (also called ‘earthly branch’) and your natal element (also called ‘heavenly stem’) as well as your Ming Gua (life gua) number. Go through the table on the next page and find your year of birth. Next to it is the animal sign and element (if you are born in January just use the year before’s sign - the Chinese Astrological Solar year begins Febuary 4th). Do the same for close friends and relatives. Now that you know your animal sign, match its compatibility with that of your friends and family in the affinity, friendship, opposites and antagonist cycles on page 6. This will indicate how well you get along with certain types of people. Eg. a pig person has affinity with other pigs, rabbits and sheep. Following on from this you can take the animal sign from each year, month and day and determine in the same way what relationship your own animal sign has with that particular period of time. Eg. a pig person finds pig, rabbit and sheep years, months or days more favourable.
Your Ming Gua (Life Gua) Number Next, your Ming Gua number (’ming’ means life or birth, ‘gua’ means trigram) number will show you your positive and negative directions and what types of people you are most suited to. Look up your “gua” number on the small directions table to the right. Those directions marked with an F are fortunate, one (1) being the strongest and four (4) being weakest, while those marked with H are harmful directions, four (4) being the least harmful and one (1) being the most harmful. It is wise to face your desk and bed in fortunate directions. There are also two main groups of “Ming Gua” numbers, easterly people and westerly people (marked by an E and a W). In relationships, people tend to be more suited to those in the same group. Page 2

Your animal sign in the year of the Pig Rat
Ox
Tiger
Rat will have to work differently in this Pig year, as it can make progress slower for Rat with regards to business and investing. The nature of the Pig does not care much for finances or future plans. This year marks an important time for the Rat to consolidate - many friends and family may make excessive demands on Rat’s time and money. Beware that reserves are not easily spent, focus on making alliances and join forces with those who will assist rat to achieve his or her goals.
Ox will have a very busy time in the year of the Pig - however it is possible he will not have much to show for his efforts in this year of the generous Pig. What is spent now however will keep Ox in good stead as the contacts he makes during this year will be especially valuable in times ahead.The Pig year will bring a lot of fun and activity but romantic and work problems will take up more time than the Ox would like. Take care with regards to matters of the heart. While the Pig year can bring great abundance early on in the year, Tigers are wise to keep their free spending nature under control - this prosperity may be short lived. Be on the guard against people who could take advantage of the Tiger with stories of businesses and investments that sound too good to be true. This is a time to take precautions & insurance.
Rabbit The year of the Pig will be a mixed bag for Rabbit - however things will ultimately turn out better than they originally looked. The fortune that comes may need to be shared with others. Due to unexpected difficulties that may arise, it is wise for Rabbit to take precautions and keep personal interests foremost in mind. Keep a realistic and grateful nature, this will keep Rabbit in good stead.
DragonDragon can breath a sigh of relief as good fortune comes back once again and things return to normal. There will be few problems in the world of work and finance, but travel appears more likely this year. There may be the need to entertain and meet more people than Dragon would normally want to, but this will ultimately create positive results. Good times lie ahead with family.
Snake
Snake could find a mixed bag this year, while abundance abounds so too can periods of scarcity. Keep alert against poor judgment that could lead to financial, legal and separation problems. Always research before taking the plunge - this may be the time to stick with a larger group, there is safety in numbers (who can share the risks). Snake may feel exhausted and see little in the way of a return when compared to the efforts put in. Don’t take on more responsibility than you can easily handle. Page 4

Sheep
Horse may find a year of complications with Pig bringing either indecision or illness - this is a good time to focus on your health and clarity of vision. While you may have high expectations for the year, keep a balanced head with realistic goals. Hold ups and delays with projects and investments may start to ease up with the coming of winter. Keep persevering and be on the guard against outside interference.
Sheep can breath easy again with Pig bringing good news and powerful allies. This will be a time that Sheep can really relax and have fun doing the things he or she loves with good company. While it may appear that things are still uncertain, there will be a sense of calm protection under the influence of the Pig. In fact, unexpected money may land at the Sheep’s feet - and a comfortable home and joyous love life await.
Monkey Pig will test Monkey’s patience as things don’t always go as fast as he or she wants. Remember, the Pig is not the fastest animal, but has wonderful qualities of generosity and devotion. Monkey may in fact find that rewards are far beyond expectations. Prone to partying hard, the Pig year is a good time for Monkey to focus on food and exercise, there will be much opportunity for loved ones to celebrate Monkey’s successes this year.
RoosterRooster needs to be careful not to spread themselves too thin in the Pig year. While wonderful forecasts are made, the price with regards to family may just be too high to pay. Therefore it will be wise to take the slower road for now and try to see the lighter, funnier side of life. Keep clear goals and listen to your own intuition, even trusted advisors may lead the Rooster astray this year.
Dog
Dog can look forward to unexpected gains, perhaps even from past investments. Pig will bring a calm and happy year to the Dog. Everyone will want to be with the much sought after Dog this year. Being so popular and winning the trust of others will make for even greater returns this year. Any problems can be easily dealt with as Dog finds many workable solutions.
Pig Pig will look favourably upon other happy Pigs this year. The year will bring a return to stability, with few setbacks or problems. The year ahead holds much travel and socialising, new friends and opportunities appear.
