Engineering workflow for the pre-configured IED 670 products in PCM 600

December, 2006 Revision: 1MRK 511 200-UEN

For handling the pre-configured IED 670 products in the Protection and Control IED Manager PCM 600 tool, please follow the recommended engineering workflow below. Instantiating IEDs in PCM 600 projects • •

Create a project in PCM 600. Add a new IED in the project.

Please see these steps in figure A and B.

Start PCM 600

Create the following structure in Plant Structure

Create and open a new project

Figure A: Getting started

Right click on the IED node and add a new Transmission IED

The Configuration Wizard will now be started. There are two ways to configure the IED

Select ’No OrderSpecific file’ and ’No Preconfig file’

Create hardware configturation in application configuration tool

Select an OrderSpecific file

The Hardware configuration and software library are added via the OrderSpecific file

Customization of the pre-configured template and Configuration of optional functions/hardware • •

• •

Most functions marked as basic in the Buyer's Guide are already configured. Start the application configuration tool and go to ‘Edit’ and ‘Insert Template’ for your IED. Here you will find a list with all available pre-configured templates for your type of IED. Please select the template that fits you application and corresponds to what has been ordered. The templates were installed on your PC when the ‘IED Connectivity Package RE_ 670’ was installed. If the template has to be customized, it is done here either in the existing worksheets that now can be seen, or by adding new ones under ‘Edit’ and ‘Insert’.

All optional functions and additional hardware you have ordered need to be configured by means of the application configuration tool. The hardware is here handled by inserting and connecting the virtual SMBI, SMBO, SMMI and SMAI function blocks in the worksheets. When the IED is at hand, the data about functional and hardware content between the tool and the IED must be synchronized. Go to ‘On-line’ and ‘Upload Options’ to synchronize the functional content. Go then to ‘Edit’, ‘Function Selector’ and ‘File’, ‘Load, and ‘Uploaded Data’ to synchronize the hardware content. Compile the configuration and download/write it to the IED.

Please see these steps in figure C.

Right click on the IED and start the Application Configuration tool

Run Edit > Function Selector Compile and Download Configuration In the CAP tool there are two ways to go

Run Edit > Insert Template...

Upload Configuration and modify by choise

Compile and Download any changes made en06000569.vsd

Connecting signals from the virtual function blocks to the physical I/O • •

Start the Signal Matrix Tool and make connections from the virtual function blocks to the physical I/O modules by adding a ‘X’ in the matrix. You can upload the existing signal matrix from the IED, but it does not include any additional hardware you may have ordered. The additional hardware and optional functions can be connected in the Signal Matrix Tool only when they have been configured by means of the application configuration tool. Note: Making changes by the ‘Function Selector’ may remove connections from the signal matrix. Therefore the final application configuration should always be compiled and the signal matrix reviewed before the matrix is downloaded/written to the IED.

Setting parameters •

Start the parameter setting tool and enter your settings. If you have the IED at hand, you can upload/read the settings from the IED and make modifications required by your application.

Please see figure E.

Right click on the IED node and start the Parameter Setting tool

Parameter Setting

Browse through the structure and set wanted values in the PST structure

Write Parameter Settings to IED

Configuring of the signal line diagram for the IED HMI •

If your IED has a large HMI, a single line diagram can be configured using the Graphical Display Editor tool. Information about configured breakers, switches and measurands is available in the complied application configuration for fast connection to the graphical elements.

Please see figure F.

Right click on the IED node and start the Grid Based Display Editor tool

Display Editor Write to IED Configure Page
