Get a history of this patient Arrange to have blood tests Suggest a treatment plan – review / what happens next if it looks very much like it could be Crohn’s disease Arrange to see patient in 2 day’s time to review blood tests Prescribe a painkiller

You are 32 year old man/woman You have been experiencing abdominal pain – really painful You want a strong painkiller You have also had diarrhoea for the past 2 days – watery motions – no mucous or blood You have not eaten anything unusual In fact, you have had very little appetite for the past 2 days You feel feverish and really miserable Just before the diarrhoea started you had a cold – runny nose and a “heavy head” – this has cleared up You have a younger brother (28 y.o.) who was diag. with Crohn’s disease 2 years ago You are extremely anxious that you might also have Crohn’s disease Keep asking the doctor “Do you think I’ve got Crohn’s disease?”
