Introduction • The S1 eNB Configuration Update procedure allows the update of the S1-link configuration data without restart of the S1-link. UE-associated signaling connections which might be ongoing are not impacted by the procedure. • It shall be triggered by the eNB if configuration information of the eNB which is needed by the MME has changed.

Page: 4 Number: 1 Author: Presenter Subject: Presentation Notes Date: 2/4/2016 2:38:44 AM (Additional note: If the support of a PLMN is removed from an eNB cell, this will always impact UEs which are using this PLMN, independently whether or not the PLMN removal will trigger a S1 eNB Configuration Update.) TAC modification for an existing eNB cell may lead to a burst of TAU procedures as the UEs which are camping in the respective eNB cell may have to update their TA. This may temporarily lead to RACHcongestion and delays of TAU. The situation can be improved by the feature LTE449 (RACH Overload handling). i
