Exercise 1 - Create a project
IPAddressing As preparation for the upcoming PCM600 exercises, you need to configure the IP address for both the IED and the PC. This is needed since the PC running PCM600 and the IED(s) that PCM600 shall communicate with must belong to the same sub network.
IPAddr ess of the IED's rear port 1. On the local HMI of the IED, select Settings\General Settings\Communication\Ethernet con figu ration \REAR-OEM Port AB
2. Set the Mode to Normal and the IPAddress to for example 172.16.0.10 . 3. Press the Menu button and save the changes.
Ethernet port settings of the PC The Ethernet settings of the PC are managed in the Windows Control Panel.
4. Open the Control Panel (Start Menu in Windows), see the figures below.

5. Choose Network and Sharing Center .
6. Select Change adapter settings .

Create the PCM600 pro ject PCM600 works with projects. Within these projects, you create and configure your plant structure and the IED objects representing your real substation.

12. Name your project. Question: What is missing in the fi gure below?

Create the plant st ructure 13. Create the plant structure according to the below picture. Name the substation, voltage level and bay level objects according to your own needs.
14. Create a REC670 IED object
15. Select Online Configuration (because we have the physical IED available)

16. Select the IEC61850 protocol
17. Select the LAN port and provide the IP-address corresponding to your IED rear port settings.

18. Select Scan. PCM600 will read version, hardware, housing size information etc from the IED.
19. Finalize the configuration wizard.

HW confi guration The HW information was read from the IED when you created the IED object in PCM600 (in online mode). Open the Hardware Configuration tool to view the hardware options you have in your training setup.
