Terminology 1/3 ƒ Process stream: a chain of nodes that are linked together and are responsible for collection, distribution and different data processing tasks. Process streams are created and configured by Comptel Corporation or the user ƒ Collector Node: a network element or application server interface for usage data collection. A collector node receives the usage data either as files (batch mode) or event records (real-time mode) ƒ Decoder Node: a node specialised in decoding certain types of event records, such as XML, log files or ASN.1, into Comptel EventLink internal format for further processing ƒ Business Logic Node: a node between decoder and encoder nodes that is specialised in a mediation function, such as validation, enrichment, correlation or conversion

Terminology 2/3 ƒ Business Logic Tool Node: a node that contains business logic created by the EventLink Business Logic Tool and an engine to execute the business logic ƒ Encoder Node: a node that encodes the event records from Comptel EventLink internal format into a certain type of output data, such as ASN.1, XML or ASCII ƒ Distributor Node: a target system specific interface for event record formatting and delivery.The target system of a distributor node is typically an OSS/BSS system

Terminology (3/3) ƒ Transport Node: a component which transfers data from one host to another in a distributed environment. There are two types of transport nodes: sender and receiver transport nodes ƒ Stand-alone Node: a component, which handles external processes to Comptel EventLink. For example, a Clean-up node ƒ Intermediate Node: a component, which modifies raw data directly (e.g. splitting large data) ƒ Order: a node specific action taken by node manager. Such as: start node, reconfigure stream, stop node, etc
