What are the acts a teacher needs to do to promote promote visible teaching teaching and learning? For visible teaching and learning, there are acts that we as teachers need to pay attention to. to. These are acts that encourage visible teaching and learning: *awareness *awaren ess of the learning intentions intentions *awareness *awaren ess of the success criteria criteria for a lesson and communicating communicat ing this to the student * knowing when a student is successful in achieving the goals g oals or learning intentions *having an understanding understanding of our student and what they are understanding from our teaching  *understanding and knowing knowing the content content we we are teaching  teaching 

hat are the acts a teacher needs to do o promote promote visible teaching and and learning?  These are some more acts that we are teachers need to engage in to have visible teaching teaching and learning lear ning in our classrooms: classr ooms: *provide a safe environment for the student and teacher * be aware aware of teaching strategies strategies that are and are not  working with our students * show passion for teaching and to show passion about when our students are learning  * using evidence based practices and noting the outcomes of these diff different erent practi practices ces

hat are the different contributions or factors hat affect affect visible teaching and learning? The different contribution contributionss that affect visible teaching and learning are: *factors from the child *factors from the home *factors from the school *factors from the teacher *factors of the curriculum *factors of the teaching approaches

 Fac  F actors tors frfrom om th thee Ch Child ild - A child child bring bringss prior prior knowl knowledge edge to to school school from presc preschool hool,, from from home home,, from from peers peers,, and from other influences such as the television or music. - Other factors that a child child brings to their their learning are: * expectations * degree of openness to experiences experiences * emerging emerging beliefs about the value and worth worth of learning and investing investing time time in learning  * engagement on school tasks and activities * build themselves themselves as a learner and a sense of self from learning. learning. - Too many many times times in school school,, we are teac teachin hingg and our studen students ts are phy physical sically ly in front front of  us but they are absent in mind. (Steingberg, Brown, & Dornbusch, 1997, p. 67) - We need to teach in ways that our students are physically and mindfully in school.

 Fac  F acttor orss frfrom om th thee hom homee - Factor Factorss from the home that influenc influences es a stude student nt and and their their learnin learning  g  are: * parental expectation and goals for their student * parental parental knowledge knowledge of learnin learningg and the language language of the school school -  These factors can either either encourage the students’ learning and achievement achiev ement or it can discourage the students’ learning and achievement. - To help help the facto factors rs from home home,, the scho school ol needs needs to help help the the parents parents understand the language of schooling and the teacher needs needs to help them understand what is expected in their classroom.

 Fac  F actors tors frfrom th thee sch school ool -  The school can affect affect a student’s student’s achievement achievement and learning process. process. - The The sc scho hool ol fa fact ctor orss inc inclu lude de:: * climate of the classroom- such such as being open to errors and correction, being open to feedback, and providing a safe, caring  environment * peer influences - When looking looking at schools schools,, it it is is not the outer appearance of the school that affects a students’ achieveme achievement nt the most, it is the features features within the school such as the ones listed above.

 Factors  F actors frfrom om the tea teache cherr - When we we think think about about teac teaching, hing, this is the the one one factor factor that that we we have have control over in our classroom. - Ho How w we tea teacch matter matterss to the the ach achiev ieveme ement nt of our stu studen dents ts.. - Other Other factor factorss from the the teac teacher her that that affect affectss our stud student entss are: * the quality of teaching from the students’ students’ perspective perspective * teacher expectations * how we view our students, learning, assessment, and the curriculum * the classroom climate that we provide * how we encourage effort in our classroom * engagement of students in the task that that we have have for the lesson

 Factors  F actors frfrom om tea teachi ching ng app apprroac oaches hes - The way way we we approac approach h teachi teaching ng and and teachi teaching ng our our student studentss influen influences ces their their learning and achievement. - Aspects Aspects that are from from teach teaching ing approa approache chess that that affect affect stude student nt learnin learningg and achievement are: * paying attention to learning intentions and success criteria * setting challenging tasks * providing multiple opportunities for deliberative practices * knowing when teacher or students is successful at achieving the goals g oals set before them * planning and talking about teaching and the ideas in their classroom * constantly receiving feedback on teaching from the students and how  they are succeeding in their classroom with their teaching
